Flavour Technologist

IMCD Nordic is a distributor of food ingredients and specialty chemicals based in Malmö, Sweden. We are a part of the distribution network of IMCD. Headquartered in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, IMCD had a turnover of €1.358 M in 2014 and employs over 1500 professionals in more than 30 countries. The current vacancy exists in the Food & Nutrition Business Group where IMCD Nordic is a major player representing leading Principals.

The Position The vacant position is for a Flavour Technologist handling the IMCD Nordic portfolio of food & beverage ingredients and supporting the Product Manager in leading the technical development of the flavour projects. The position is based in the facilities in Malmö but requires travelling to visit Nordic customers. The Principal Duties of the Role are to:

Lead the technical development of IMCD Nordic’s flavour ingredients range
Have a strong understanding of the entire food ingredient portfolio to be able to provide additional value to the customer through offering total formulation solutions
Carry out application work across all food & beverage segments
Work closely with IMCD’s flavour team and the Givaudan technical teams to develop the flavour business
Work closely with the sales team to prioritize projects and visit customers when needed
Help to define and implement the food & nutrition strategy

The Ideal Candidate would:

Be a dynamic self-starter with excellent communications skills
Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to prioritize accordingly
Have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline
Have relevant technical flavour experience
Have strong commercial skills
Have good IT knowledge
Be able to work well as part of a team and be friendly and personable

A food applications background with experience in flavours, colours, starches & hydrocolloids would be a strong advantage. Existing customer relationships across a number of food sectors would also be favourable. This position would ideally suit someone who would be keen to progress and develop the role over a number of years.
