ASM Foods in Mjölby is part of the Barry Callebaut Group, and focuses on developing and producing customized fillings and coatings for the bakery, confectionery, dairy and ice cream industries. The site in Mjölby has two production facilities - one designed to produce waterbased products such as caramels, fruit fillings, and other sauces, and the other designed to produce fatbased products such as chocolate and compound coatings and fillings. Our production is agile and flexible, facilitating great new opportunities and creative product development.

ASM R&D is looking for the next Product Developer to join our team!

In our R&D department, we are proud to add value to the product portfolio of our customers by creating tailor made solutions fit for purpose. To us, customer focus is key, and for R&D this requires a great understanding of the needs of the customer - their market and products, as well as their production processes. We always strive for product excellence and drive continuous improvement of our products and services. We create new market opportunities by leveraging our great customer collaboration and product innovations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The product developer role requires a strong technical background and a great ability to understand the individual advantages of our production capabilities. In this role you will be developing new exciting products for our customers - either by creating completely new solutions or adapt and adjust existing recipes to better fit the needs of the customer. You will be in the lead of all steps in the product development process, starting from understanding and interpreting the customer brief, creating theoretical recipes, making cost calculations, producing product samples in the lab, setting up new final recipes to be tested in factory trials, to finally be delivered to a happy customer. During this exciting journey you will collaborate closely with both local key functions within ASM such as QA, Production and Sourcing - as well as international colleagues within Sales, Customer R&D and also our Customers.

To succeed in this role you are capable of handling multiple complex development projects at a time, you have good communication and people skills, you bring passion and inspiration together with a strong drive to “make it happen”.

Formal requirements are:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Food Science/Biology/Microbiology/Chemistry/Engineering or similar,  preferably in a food science discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience from R&D processes
  • Project Management and communication Skills
  • Proven track record within product development, preferably in the food industry
  • Strong understanding of ingredients and their physical, chemical, sensory and regulatory impact on our products
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office Applications, ERP tools preferred.
  • Fluent Swedish and English (speaking, writing and reading) is a must.
